We are expert installers of beautifully fitted hardwood floors. We source from chosen suppliers who also use our services for their customers. We look for quality at a fair price. And we know about the nature of wood: how it responds to temperature, humidity and heavy footfall. All in all, we are master craftsmen within the narrow field of bespoke fitted floors.
We offer a free site survey not just to measure up for a quotation but to consider the usage and environment in which the floor is to be laid: there's a big difference between a kitchen floor in Putney and the entrance to a prestigious store in London's West End. We listen carefully to the ideas of our client and advise on the best way to achieve the desired result. When using a solid wood, we will order the flooring in advance and let it stand so it can adjust to the new atmospheric environment before laying. This prevents bowing and shrinking due to heat and humidity.
We start by ensuring the sub-floor is properly prepared. This prevents unwanted movement or springiness caused by an uneven base. We will take time to get it right because our floors are designed and fitted to last a lifetime; the last thing we want is to take it up, solve the problem and refit it. We aim to get it right first time.
When we say we fit floors, we fit floors exactly. We lay from wall to wall, not skirting to skirting. We do not work round semi-permanent fixtures; we lift them up, lay the floor and put them back. This way there is visual continuity right across the area and even through arches and doorways. Vital, if a patterned floor like parquet is involved.
Once the floor is fitted we finish it using sealants, lacquers, oils or wax. The end result is a floor that looks fabulous and is fit for purpose.
The way we approach each project depends on the brief. Residential projects are treated differently from commercial projects and development assignments are another story.
